Job Description/Responsibilities

 

Chemist - Technical Services

 

We are seeking a Chemist - Technical Services will help drive continuous improvement by providing high-quality technical support across the Sazerac organization. This support will emphasize high level analytical testing, data analysis, and reporting. This person will assist in the optimization of internal and external resources in order to implement technological, quality, and cost improvements across the company with the outcome of delighting our customers. This individual will work out of our Sazerac Switzerland, GmbH.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in writing, reviewing, implementing, and updating lab procedures. Ensure that team follows all work instructions and provide feedback on laboratory specifications. Assist with cleaning and organizing the lab. Provide input for lab design efficiency, ergonomics, and safety. Participate in and lead sensory assessment and training for Sazerac Lucerne Innovation Center team and for sensory panelists at production sites.
  • Audit samples and provide feedback on quality checks and procedures being performed at all production locations. Provide feedback and support process improvements at Sazerac sites. Facilitate evaluation of sensory samples from all sites to ensure consistence and quality of product across Sazerac network.

  • Support the Sazerac Lucerne Innovation Center team and the broader operation in achieving operational excellence through problem solving, implementing sustainable processes, and identifying opportunities for operational improvements. Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the Sazerac Lucerne Innovation Center laboratory. Partner with Leadership and peers to ensure the highest level of sensory standards are achieved.
  • Ensure activities, processes, and products are compliant with government agencies' regulatory requirements including OSHA, TTB, and EPA.
  • Follow all necessary safety procedures. Actively work to improve safety of laboratory procedures in the Sazerac Lucerne Innovation Center team and provide support for safety improvement initiatives across Sazerac network.
  • Assist with implementation of technical process improvements across Sazerac's plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers in order to ensure the highest quality while reducing costs. Support Sazerac's Sensory program to ensure the highest and consistent product quality possible. Assist our operating facilities and laboratories to continuously improve by utilizing technical skills in order to optimizing productivity, costs and quality.

Qualifications/Requirements

Requirements

  • Chemistry or related science degree
  • 3 years Lab/QC or related experience
  • Strong computer skills and high comfort using technology and systems
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated sensory aptitude

PREFERRED

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience in Alcohol Beverage Industry or CPG overall
  • Willingness to travel

  • Distinguish flavors through taste and smell
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fumes or airborne particles conditions
  • Noise level at work station is moderate (business office with computer printers)
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary
  • Ability to work in-person job attendance: M-F
